Sat 2 Jul Memphis - Vicksburg - morning

We start off the day with normal routinr, riding out from Elvis' heartbreak Hotel just befor 8:30

Tpday we have about 250 miles to do South down towards Vicksburg.

After gas, our first main stop is at the Ground Zero blues club in Clarksdale, a former cotton-grading warehouse from the early 1900's. Co-owned by Morgan Freeman, a venue considered to be one of the top 100 bars and nightclubs in America.Coffee and donuts are provided for us.

below: Clarksville, a quiet street...

A short ride later we stop at THE Crossroads (cross of Highway 61 and Highway49  in Clarksdale, Mississippi...

.... according to legend, Rober Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the devil in exchange for mastery of the blues.

then we gas up just up from THE Crossroads, and make our way down the Blues Highway towards our lunch stop at Greenville.

You may remember a song that comes to my mind, "Mississippi" by Pussycat, which was a mid 70's No. 1 hit in the UK, anyway we're in the Mississippi Delta area, and Greenville is mentioned in that song. check it out. link
This morning we're riding south, either on Highway 61, or Highyway 1 that tracks the path of the Mississippi river.

The Cajun Shotgun House in Greenville is our lunch stop. A lovcely place to eat at, a family run restaurant. I have  Elvis Cake, and Mrs. K has the Blueberry pie, although we do share bits of both between us. Both are real good. Elvis Cake I hear you say, whats thet. Hmmm, let me try and remember... It;s a light yellow sponge, topped with a layer of pineapple creamy mixture and topped with chopped pecan nuts - something like that.

back out in the parking lot we get ready for the afternoon ride...
