Wed, 29 Jun. - A. Day in Nashville - part 1

Today is our first non-riding day since we picked the bikes up, and we're spending it in Nashvile.

A bit of a lazy morning, taking breakfast in the hotel at 8.30, catching up on the blog posting, and a bit of on line banking before we take a walk downtown.
Strangely our hotel couldn't provide a local area map but fortunately the hotel  next door can provide us with one.
It's not so over hot today, much more pleasant for walking about.
It takes us about 1/2 hour to walk downtown to Broadway. Broadway is the downtown area where all the 'Honky Tonk' bars are .

For lunch we didn't need much, thaks to the hearty breakfast, so settled for just ice creams.

Then we visited the visitors centre at Music City and buy tickets for the Grey Line trolley bus tour.

We walked down to the bottom end of Broadway, near the river, where the trolley bus starts from. It was waiting so we boarded.It left after about 10 minutes so that was good timing.

This is a hop-on, hop-off service, that does a loop around the sights of Nashville. It takes about ninety minutes so its a very similar set up to the one we did in Atlanta. The main difference here is that the guide /commentator is also the driver. He's both very knowledgeable and entertaining. Mrs K. and I both thoroughly enjoyed the tour and can appreciate now how much Nashville has to offer, it's history and characteristics.

For us the tour ended where it started (we didn't do hop-on/hop-off as it was getting near the lastr hour that the tours run for). From the bottom end of broadway, we first stop at Mikes Ice Cream & Coffee Bar - I have the coffee ice cream and an espresso, and then make our way, by foot, up to the top end of Broadway and on to our hotel, stopping numerous times along the way to pop into the shops and bars.
